Los Angeles – The Northeast Area Community Police Station will host its annual open house on Saturday, October 14, 2000, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the station parking lot at 3353 San Fernando Road. This year’s theme is crime prevention and will include a crime prevention fair. Northeast area consists of 22 diverse communities with approximately 250,000 residents. This event will showcase the Los Angeles Police Department with displays from SWAT, D.A.R.E., Bomb Squad, Narcotics, Air Support, Mounted Unit, K-9 Unit and much more.
Meet Chief Parks and members of the Los Angeles City Council as well as the Senior Lead Officer assigned to your community. Hear crime prevention from security professionals. Guided tours of the station will be offered and workshops will be conducted with topics concerning domestic violence, gang suppression and the Northeast Area Problem Solving Detail.
There will be activities for all ages. A disk jockey will be on hand to provide music for your enjoyment. There will be a moon bounce for the kids, along with free balloons. Halloween safety tips will be given to youngsters and parents to ensure a safe and enjoyable Halloween. The Los Angeles Dodgers will display a baseball memorabilia trailer with a pitching machine and fun games for all. A barbecue fundraiser will be provided by our local area business police support group, BLEND (Business for Law Enforcement in Northeast Division), offering tempting food for a nominal amount throughout the day.
This event is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate participation in local anti-crime efforts and strengthen neighborhood-police community partnerships.
