"Two Dead Bodies Found in Apartment"
Alerta: On Wednesday, November 1, 2000 at 1:00 a.m., Foothill Area patrol officers responded to a "Possible Murder Investigation" at 8635 Snowden Avenue in Arleta. The person reporting indicated blood was running out of the doorway at apartment #26. The person reporting the incident did not disclose the identity. The responding officers located a drunk lying in front of the doorway of apartment #25, across the hall from apartment #26. The officers did not detect any blood evidence.
The officers believed the drunk was the cause of the radio call. The officers located the apartment where the drunk resided and ensured he was cared for. The officers did not receive any response from apartment #26 and found no evidence of foul play. The neighbors did not know who summoned the police and did not hear anything that would indicate a homicide had occurred. The officers cleared the scene.
On the same day at 9:41 a.m., the police were summoned again to the location. The relatives of one of the residents of apartment #26 entered the apartment and discovered a male and a female dead on the living room floor. Foothill Area Homicide Detectives responded and are conducting an investigation as to the cause of death.
The victims were identified as Santiago Carlos, 36 years of age and Sheila Miranda, a 29 years of age. The preliminary investigation revealed the victims died from gunshot wounds.
The suspect(s) have not been identified and the motive is unknown at this time.
