"Pasadena City Paramedic Dies in Motorcycle Accident"
Los Angeles – On Sunday, December 10, 2000, at approximately 7:00 p.m., James R. Brown, a Pasadena City Fire Department paramedic was travelling northbound on his motorcycle near the intersection of Etiwanda Avenue and Ventura Boulevard. Unfortunately, Brown lost control of his motorcycle which caused him to slide and eventually collide with a nearby iron and cinderblock wall.
When paramedics arrived, two of Brown’s friends were attempting to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with negative results. Responding paramedics also attempted to save Brown’s life, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at approximately 7:20 p.m.
Although the cause of the accident is under investigation, preliminary evidence leads investigators to believe that excessive speed was a major contributing factor to the accident.
Valley Traffic Division Detectives are conducting the investigation. Anyone with information that may assist in this investigation is urged to call 213 485-6410. The information in this press release was provided by Valley Traffic Division Detective J. Mann.
