Los Angeles: A Los Angeles Police Department reserve officer discharged his firearm at a mountain lion that was attacking a dachshund.
On Thursday, January 3, 2008, at about 6:30 p.m., Reserve Officer Carmen Silicato, was in the backyard of his residence, when a mountain lion attacked his dog. The officer shot and killed the lion with his firearm after the lion carried the dog up a tree. The lion eventually released the dog and later died.
The dog was injured but survived the attack.
Foothill Detectives are handling the investigation.
