Los Angeles: On Sunday, March 9, 2008, at around 11:30 p.m., off-duty United States Customs and Border Protection employee, Mylus Mondy, drove to an ATM in the 6600 block of La Cienega Westway. Unknown to Mondy, a robbery was in progress at the row of ATM’s. As Mondy walked up to an adjacent ATM, the suspect turned his attention to him and demanded his money. The suspect struck Mondy on the head and pointed a gun at him. Mondy then attempted to run away, but the suspect pursued him while firing. The victim was struck by the gunfire and severely injured.
Mr. Mondy was transported to a local hospital where he died on Monday, March 10, 2008.
On Wednesday, March 12, 2008, when the press release was disseminated, detectives have received numerous tips from the community that helped to identify the suspects involved. Detectives have worked relentlessly around the clock developing the case, and served numerous search warrants on the 13th and 14th. The efforts resulted in the arrests of McKenzie Bryant, 23, and Enjoli McClendon, 22. Booking photographs of the suspects are not to be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
