Los Angeles: A Los Angeles Police k-9 helped capture a Robbery Suspect who hid from police by hiding under a parked vehicle.
On March 8, 2009, at 8:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a call of a robbery in progress in the 800 block of Central Ave at the Burger King Restaurant. When the officers arrived, they were met by the robbery victims who gave a brief description of the suspect(s). The officers established a perimeter and a police dog was requested to search for the suspect(s). During the search, k-9 found 26-year-old Lorenzo Uriel, who refused to surrender to officers. The K-9 bit him on both arms. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital where he was admitted and treated for his injuries on both arms.
The police also found a 17-year-old boy hiding underneath a parked vehicle with Lorenzo Uriel. The boy surrendered immediately to police and did not obtain any injuries.
Neither the officer nor the dog were injured.
Force Investigation Division will handle the dog bite investigation.
