Media personnel will be allowed to stage in a designated area adjacent to the law enforcement assembly area with good visual access to the assembly.  The area will be open for media staging beginning at 6:00 a.m.

Agency representatives will make themselves available at 2:00 p.m.            
Who:    Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Representatives.
            
The Los Angeles/Long Beach Port Complex serves as the gateway for more than 80 percent of the goods that enter the United States from the Pacific Rim.  Over 18,000 shipping containers arrive in the port complex daily representing over $200 billion of annual trade.  The economy of the entire nation and world hinge largely on this port complex.

Over one half of the 18,000 containers, which arrive in the port complex daily are transported via commercial trucks.  The Multi Agency Strike Force Operation was formed to help ensure traffic management, commercial truck safety, effective and efficient intermodal container inspections, and homeland security issues.
 
Media attending this Multi Agency Strike Force Operation will have limited access to cover actual inspections and enforcement activities related to hazardous materials and highway safety laws and regulations.  The Unites States Coast Guard will conduct intermodal container inspections on commercial trucks, trains and container facilities.

To help ensure compliance with applicable regulations, routine inspections and enforcement occur on a daily basis.  The task-force-level inspections occur throughout the year.
