Suspect in West Los Angeles Double Homicide arrested in Atlanta, GeorgiaLos Angeles Police Department (LAPD) West Los Angeles homicide detectives are reporting the arrest of homicide suspect Javier Angulo Romero.  Romero was arrested on October 5, 2010 at a residence outside Atlanta, Georgia by the United States Marshalls. Investigators identified 19-year-old Romero as one of the suspects responsible for the murder a pregnant woman on May 5, 2010 in West Los Angeles.  An arrest warrant charging Romero with two counts of murder was obtained shortly after the crime.  Detectives have been working with the United States Marshalls after receiving information that Romero had fled California. 

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) West Los Angeles homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who fatally shot a woman while she was seated in her car Yesterday morning.

On May 5, 2010, at around 9:10 a.m., 26-year-old Jana Collins, a resident of Los Angeles, was seated in her vehicle accompanied by two males in the 1900 block of Corning Street in West Los Angeles.  A gunman approached the car and fired numerous shots, striking her in the upper torso.

She was taken to a local hospital by private vehicle and shortly after was pronounced dead at the hospital along with her 18-week unborn fetus.

Detectives believe the woman was not the intended target, and the incident appears to be gang related.
