WHY:
To inform the community about the “Summer Night Lights” program and how it will provide a safe and enjoyable place for residents, especially young people, to go during the summer months.
Council President Eric Garcetti will be advising the community about two recent homicides in the Hollywood Area. The reason for this is to create awareness within the community and to try to bring together the residents who are plagued by gang activity on a daily basis. He will encourage the public to provide information, anonymously if they wish, to assist in solving crimes that have brought much pain to the families affected by gang violence.
There will be information on job opportunities and ways for community members to become more involved. Community members are an important component in keeping kids involved and safe by working hand in hand with law enforcement, reporting criminal and suspicious activity, and by providing information that will help solve crimes.
