Los Angeles. Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Newton Area detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the three suspects caught on surveillance video robbing a liquor store in South Los Angeles.
On December 26, 2010, at 8:30 p.m., LAPD Newton Area patrol officers responded to a robbery call in the 6000 block of South Avalon Boulevard. When officers arrived, they were met by victims inside the store. They also noted that the store appeared to have been ransacked.
The officers’ investigation revealed that two employees were working at a liquor store near the 6000 block of South Avalon Boulevard when three men entered the store. Two of the men were armed with semi-automatic handguns. During the incident one of the suspects chased an employee to the back of the store, where the employee managed to lock himself inside of a room. The other suspects demanded the money from the register, and the second employee complied with their demands. The robbers placed the money in a bag along with merchandise they gathered from the store shelves. The suspects then ran out of the store and drove away in a gray four door compact car with an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise. Detectives say that the trio of suspects may have committed several other robberies in the area.
The suspects were described as African American men in their early twenties.
The first suspect is six feet tall and weighs 260 pounds. The second suspect stands six feet tall and weighs 170 pounds. The third suspect stands five feet eight inches and weighs 160 pounds. There was no description of the fourth suspect who drove the getaway car.
