Los Angeles: Two men standing in an alley Sunday evening were shot by a male Hispanic suspect riding in a light colored pickup truck.
On July 22, 2012, around 7:10 p.m., 24-year-old Emanuel Padilla and a friend were standing in the alleyway near Gulf Avenue and E Street. Multiple suspects in a light colored pickup truck drove up to them and fired numerous rounds striking them both.
Padilla and his friend were transported to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel where Padilla died shortly after arriving. His friend was admitted and remains in critical condition.
The motive for this shooting remains unclear, but detectives are investigating the possibility that it was gang related.
