Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting deaths of 29-year-old Gustavo Lopez and 22-year-old Rafael Aguilar-Rodriguez.
On Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at around 3:52 p.m., the suspect walked into his brother’s (victim- Lopez’) bedroom and shot him multiple times for no apparent reason. The suspect then opened fire on his brother’s friend (victim-2 Aguilar) who was visiting at the time.
Officers responding to the shooting scene found the suspect inside the residence along with the victims. The suspect, 25-year-old Isreal Lopez of Los Angeles, was taken into custody without incident and the weapon believed used in the killings was recovered at the scene.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics arrived and pronounced Lopez dead at the scene with multiple gunshots wounds. Victim-Aguilar sustained a single gunshot wound and was transported to USCMC where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigation revealed the motive for the shooting appears to a long standing dispute between the suspect and his brother. Lopez was booked for murder and held on $1 million bail.
