WHY:
In the on-going effort to nurture the community policing partnership which is critical to public safety within the City of Los Angeles, a unique terrorism awareness symposium will be hosted by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Area.
The internationally recognized panel will be comprised of former Central Intelligence Agency Analyst (CIA) Nada Bakos whose skill and courage led to the locating of both notorious terrorist Abu Musab Al -Zarqawi and Osama Bin Laden. Renowned terrorism expert, accomplished author and senior advisor to the President of the Rand Corporation Brian Michael Jenkins and the head of the LAPD’s Counter Terrorism Bureau, Deputy Chief Michael Downing will also be a part of the panel. The speakers will interact and focus on recent terrorist-related incidents, the state of international and domestic terrorism today, LAPD’s preparedness tools, Los Angeles as a potential target, intelligence gathering and the community’s role in the prevention of attack. LAPD Bomb Squad and Hazardous Materials Unit experts will be on hand for apresentation.
Parking is within Paramount Studios will be accessible through the Melrose and Windsor Main Gate. The seating is limited to 500 attendees. Due to Paramount Pictures policy, it is asked that live video feeds to news outlets not be conducted while on the Paramount Studios lot.
