WHY:
To infiltrate, investigate, and dismantle criminal street gangs who are committing serious crimes within the City of Los Angeles. Our efforts will reduce the fear of crime within citizens who reside in the crime ridden neighborhoods where our investigations take place. The results are achieved mostly through the State and Federal arrests of shot callers and leaders of the gang as well as implementing the City Attorney’s Abatement Process. Some examples of the operations that we have been involved in are, Operation Stone Cold, Operation Red Dawn, and Operation Thumbs Down to name a few.
After the investigations are completed, we typically move from one gang to the next without implementing some type of preventive measure outside of the normal enforcement of the laws. After having to revisit the same gangs due to new or younger members stepping up to replace the people that have been sent to prison, an organized Community Impact Initiative has been developed.
This initiative is designed to move young people away from lives of violence and delinquency and into productive, educated members of society.
In an effort to help both youth and adults, we have reached out to numerous organizations that are equipped to provide much needed services to the community.
On Friday, we will conduct a clean-up of approximately 50 alleys located between Crenshaw Blvd, Normandie Ave, Jefferson Blvd and Martin L. King Jr., Blvd. This clean-up will consist of graffiti removal, trash and bulky item pick-up, along with the removal of overgrown brush. There will be an organization on hand to assist with any homeless encampments.
