Los Angeles: A man driving lost control of his vehicle and collided with another driver.
On February 23, 2014, around 4:50 p.m., a two vehicle traffic collision occurred on Sunset Boulevard east of Mapleton Drive in the city of Los Angeles. 40-year-old Sami Hayek, a resident of Los Angeles, was driving a 2006 Ford GT eastbound Sunset Boulevard when he lost control and crossed over into the westbound sunset Boulevard lanes of traffic. He collided with a 20-year-old driver, a resident of Los Angeles, driving his 2011 Toyota Tacoma truck.
As a result of the collision, the front passenger of the 2006 Ford GT, a 43-year-old resident of Mexico sustained major blunt force trauma to his body. Mr. Hayek sustained several broken ribs and a laceration to his head. The driver of the other vehicle sustained a broken foot and complained of pain to his body.
The Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded, pronounced the front passenger dead at scene and transported Mr. Hayek and the other driver to a local hospital.
The 43-year-old passenger’s name is being withheld pending notification next of kin.
