Huntington Beach: Off-duty officer arrested in Huntington Beach is being examined very closely by the Department.
On Thursday October 23, 2014, off-duty Los Angeles Police Officer Ryan Galliher was arrested in the City of Huntington Beach for committing a lewd act in public. Upon notification, LAPD responded to Huntington Beach where Galliher’s Commanding Officer met with him. Galliher was assigned home pending the outcome of the investigation. In addition to the criminal investigation, LAPD has initiated an administrative internal investigation to investigate the matter.
Galliher was hired by the Department in November of 2011 and was assigned to Southwest patrol at the time of his arrest. Galliher will remain assigned to home pending the outcome of these investigations. “It is appropriate that I reserve judgment on this matter until all of the facts have been gathered and the investigations have been completed,” said Chief Charlie Beck. “However, let me be very clear, I will not tolerate any behavior that reflects negatively upon this Department and tarnishes our relationship with our Communities near or far,” Chief Beck concluded.
The LAPD will continue to provide its full cooperation with Huntington Beach until their investigation is complete. We would encourage anyone who may have information about this incident or any other incident to provide that information to the Huntington Beach Police Department or the LAPD Internal Affairs Division at 1-800-339-6868.
