Los Angeles: On February 1, 2015, around 8 p.m., LAPD officers responded to a radio call at an apartment located on the 1300 block of Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles. Inside the apartment officers discovered a 46-year-old Asian female had been murdered.
Victim Yi Tung Weng was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. After interviewing the victim’s 22-year-old-son, Chen Chao Ming, detectives determined he was the suspect. According to Central Area Homicide Detectives, the suspect tortured and struck his mother with a hammer and then strangled her to death. Mr. Ming was arrested and transported to Central Area Station pending further investigation.
