UPDATE

Van Nuys: On May 12, 2015 at
around 10:00 a.m., Karen Balyan, a 44-year-old male was arrested
for being a participant in illegal speed contest resulting in the
death of two victims and seriously injuring a third person.

Balyan surrendered to Los Angeles Criminal Court with his
attorney in response to a felony warrant that was issued for his
arrest. His bail has been set for $3,000,000 for two counts of
187(a) PC.

Van Nuys: On February 28, 2015, at 1855 hours,
Henry Gevorgyan, walked into the Los Angeles Police Department’s
Central Community Police Station accompanied by his attorney and
surrendered. This was in response to the Speed Contest resulting
in the deaths of two victims and the serious injury of a third
pedestrian. Gevorgyan was booked at the Metropolitan Detention
Center (MDC) for California Penal Code 187 (a).

This investigation is active and fluid. We encourage the
community to provide us with information and leads on this
matter, to include information on the second participant in the
race.

Los Angeles: On Thursday, February 26,
2015, around 2:05 AM, a fatal traffic collision occurred as a
result of an illegal street race.

21-year-old
Henry Gevorgyan was driving a gray colored Ford Mustang and was
allegedly racing another vehicle westbound on Plummer Street from
Canoga Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle and struck
several pedestrian spectators. Gevorgyan failed to stop and
render aid to the injured pedestrians and fled from the scene of
the collision.

One pedestrian, 26-year-old Eric Siguenza, died at the scene.
Another pedestrian was transported to a local hospitial where he
died as a result of his injuries. A third pedestrian was also
transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.

Detectives are requesting Henry Gevorgyan to surrender
immediately to LAPD Valley Traffic Division, 7870 Nollan Place,
Panorama City, CA 91402.
