Wanted Suspect Fires at Officers NRF016-15er

Los Angeles: On Monday, February 23, 2015, around 2:30 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department, Gang and Narcotics Division (GND) plainclothes investigators were conducting surveillance in the 600 block of West 43rd Place for a named suspect in an ‘Attempt Murder’ crime report that had occurred in the Newton Area in January.

GND investigators had identified the suspect as 32-year-old, Alfredo Marron and that he resided in the 600 block of West 43rd Place. An LAPD detective was parked in an unmarked vehicle west of the location in front of 700 block of West 43rd Place when he saw Marron and a female later identified as Marron’s sister, Marlene Marron, exit the residence and get into separate vehicles in the driveway.

Marlene slowly drove west towards the detective’s parked vehicle, looking into all parked vehicles on the street. Marlene returned to the residence and carried a conversation with Marron, who was sitting in a Chevrolet truck. Alfredo Marron immediately drove to the detective’s parked location, stopped and produced a handgun at which time an officer involved shooting occurred.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported Marron to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released for booking. Marlene Marron was taken into custody without incident.

A handgun was recovered. No officers were injured during this incident.

Force Investigation Division investigators responded to the incident and will conduct a thorough investigation of the officer involved shooting.

The investigation will ultimately be reviewed by the Chief of Police, the Office of the Inspector General and Board of Police Commissioners for compliance with the Departments use-of-force policy, which states that an officer’s use-of-force actions must be objectively reasonable. Additionally, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Justice System Integrity Division will conduct a comprehensive review of the facts of the officer involved shooting.
