Attempted Sexual Assault Suspect Captured NR15267dm

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division (RHD), Special Assault Section, arrested 30-year-old Kevin William Lasz, a resident of Los Angeles for assault with the intent to commit rape during a burglary.

On Wednesday, August 5, 2015, around 4:30 p.m., the suspect approached a resident in the 17000 block of Minnehaha Street and attempted to convince the resident to let him in her house. The resident feared the suspect and called 911. Approximately five minutes later, the same suspect approached a second residence located in the 19000 block of San Jose Street and knocked on the door. The housekeeper at the residence opened the door, and the suspect forced his way into the residence. Once inside, the suspect physically assaulted the victim and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim fought back, causing the suspect to cease his actions and leave the location.

On Thursday, August 6, 2015, around 5:30 p.m., RHD detectives, along with plain clothes officers from LAPD’s Gang and Narcotics Division Surveillance Unit, coordinated an investigation and subsequently identified the suspect as Kevin William Lasz.

Lasz was arrested in the 17000 block of San Jose Street and booked for 220(b) PC-Assault with the intent to commit rape during a burglary. Lasz is being held in lieu of a $1 million bail.
