WHAT: A News Conference to announce the $50,000 reward offered by the Los Angeles City Council to apprehend the murderer(s) of Almicar Ponce.

WHO: Los Angeles City Council Member, Council District 9, Curren Price LAPD Captain, Jorge Rodriguez, Newton Area Commanding Officer LAPD Detective Jose Calzadillas, Newton Homicide Unit Family members of Almicar Ponce
WHY: On June 21, 2015, around 2:30 a.m., 21 year old Almicar Ponce and a friend were standing on the sidewalk in the 4000 block of South Wall Street. The suspects, in two vehicles, approached the victim northbound on Wall Street from 43rd Street. The suspects fired numerous rounds at the victim, striking him in the head. Almicar’s friend dove for cover during the shooting and was not struck. The suspects fled the scene northbound on Wall Street and the Los Angeles Fire Department and LAPD responded to the scene. Almicar Ponce was transported to a hospital where he was declared brain dead and placed on life support. On June 26, 2015 at 3:50 a.m., Ponce was pronounced dead after being taken off life support.
