The event promotes a positive lifestyle, physical fitness, sports, and team work amongst our youth. Billed as “America’s Greatest Youth Baseball Event”, the LAPD Baseball Swing-a-Thon will include a baseball skills clinic given by the Law Enforcement teams, a rock climbing wall, extreme obstacle courses, public safety displays, including the LAPD helicopter, community outreach booths, face painting and arts & crafts, hula hoop, dance, and rap contests for big prizes, raffles for Dodger tickets, bicycles, and other prizes.
At noon just prior to the baseball game, Officers from the baseball teams stand with all the kids in attendance on the baseball field to recite the “Just Say No” pledge, and a promise to say no to drugs, gangs, crime, and bullying.
