Van Nuys: On Monday, October10, 2016, around 2:52 a.m., Van Nuys Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of a possible “Assault With Deadly Weapon” at the 7400 block of Hazeltine Avenue in the city of Van Nuys.
When the officers arrived they found the victim lying on the ground in a driveway in front of a apartment complex suffering from injuries to her face. The suspect was also at scene and appeared to be suffering a leg injury.
Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported both the victim and suspect to a local hospital where the victim succumbed to her injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect, who is the victim’s son, appeared to have thrown the victim out of a second story window. The suspect jumped out of the same window and began to kick and stomp on her.
The suspect is a 40 year old, male Hispanic. The victim is a 70 year old female Hispanic.
The suspect is currently in custody.
