Big Brothers Big Sisters Announce Partnership with LAPD

Why: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles, Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Rams hold a press conference to announce the LA rollout of Bigs in Blue, a national program that pairs children from underserved communities with members of law enforcement in mentor partnerships – “Bigs” and “Littles”. Bigs in Blue provides support, encouragement and life skills, as well as positive interaction with members of the LAPD, to vulnerable youth in underserved communities.

The LAPD commits to a five-year agreement to recruit Bigs from within the police department, to be paired with Littles from the BBBSLA program. The LA Rams are longtime supporters of BBBSLA. As the Rams look for ways to help build a bridge between law enforcement and the communities they serve, the team is interested in the potential of Bigs in Blue to assist vulnerable youth and develop trust and communication between communities and the police. The Rams will dedicate the last home game of the regular season, an awareness campaign, and 100 tickets to the BBBSLA Bigs in Blue program.
