Women Arrested for Child Endangerment NR17095ml

Los Angeles: Detectives
from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Abuse Child Unit arrested
a 27-year-old female for Child Endangerment Causing Great Bodily
Injury.

On January 16, 2017, Four children, ages 2-8, were hospitalized in
critical condition after being rescued from a burning home in the
Vermont Knolls neighborhood of South Los Angeles, in the 800 block
of West Manchester Avenue.

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD)- Robbery-Homicide Division
(RHD) detectives responded to the scene and investigated this case
as a possible homicide as it was believed the children would not
survive.

On March 27, 2017, Juvenile Division- Abused Child Section (ACS)
detectives assumed the investigative responsibility of this case
from RHD.

On April 03, 2017 Abuse Child Unit detectives arrested the mother,
Jordan Chiquita, a-27-year-old female from Los Angeles. Ms.
Chiquita was booked for Child Endangerment Causing Great Bodily
Injury, bail set at $100,000.

Ms. Chiquita has ties to Las Vegas, Nevada and Abuse Child Unit
detectives need the public’s assistance with information about this
family’s travels to and from Las Vegas.

Juvenile Division- ACS is responsible for conducting follow-up
investigations of abused children including but not limited to
physical abuse, sexual abuse and murder. The ACS also conducts
follow-up investigations on deaths of children less than 11 years
of age, where the parent or guardian’s neglect or action places the
child in an endangered situation that results in death or great
bodily injury.
