Exchange of Gunfire Leaves One Man Dead in the Melrose District NR17251dm

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department West Bureau Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect, or suspects, responsible for killing a 27-year-old man.

On August 28, 2017, around 5:45 p.m., an undercover police officer was patrolling in the area of Melrose Avenue and Sierra Bonita Avenue when he heard numerous gunshots fired.

The undercover officer located a shooting victim in the street. The victim had suffered numerous gunshot wounds, and there was a firearm near his body.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The suspect is described as a male Black between the ages of 20-25 years old. He stands approximately 5 foot 10 inches to 6 feet tall and was wearing a dark jacket. The suspect was seen driving away in a black SUV, east through the alley just south of Melrose Avenue.

The motive of this shooting is unknown, and possibly gang related.
