Young Man Murdered in Northridge NR18008dm

Northridge: Homicide detectives
from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau are asking
for the public’s help in providing information that would lead to
the arrest of the suspect responsible for the murder of 23-year-old
Northridge resident Jorge Reyes.

On December 31, 2017, around 6:05 p.m., Devonshire Area uniformed
patrol officers responded to an “Ambulance Shots Fired” radio call
in the 8600 block of Balboa Boulevard in Northridge. Upon arrival,
officers observed the victim laying in the parking lot of a
business, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded and
pronounced the victim dead at scene.

Detective’s preliminary investigation revealed the victim and his
two friends drove to a fast food restaurant. The driver went inside
the restaurant while the victim remained in the vehicle in the
front passenger seat. At that time, a male Hispanic suspect
approached and began arguing with the victim. The suspect fought
with the victim as he sat in the vehicle. The suspect then produced
a handgun and began shooting at the victim. The victim got out of
the vehicle and ran but was struck multiple times by gunfire and
fell to the ground.

The
suspect entered an older model sedan and fled the scene. He was
accompanied by a female Hispanic, who detectives advise is a person
of interest.
