Los Angeles: To increase public safety in and around the USC campus, the USC Village Target store donated gift cards to the LAPD/ USC “Safe Stop Initiative” program.
On Friday, April 20, 2018, the LAPD and USC’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) rolled out the second phase of the Safe Stop Initiative. Captain III Leland Sands, Commanding Officer, Southwest Area, Captain Ed Palmer, USC DPS, and USC Village Target representatives, were present to witness the program in action.
The Safe Stop Initiative is a public private partnership with law enforcement and businesses in the USC area. The program was started by LAPD in March of 2018, with the goal of promoting public safety through dialogue with the community. As a thank you for their time in the Safe Stop Initiative, students and community members receive a Target gift card, courtesy of the USC Village Target.
