Double Fatal Hit and Run Collision NR18125ml

April 28, 2018

Tujunga: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a double fatal hit and run traffic collision.

On April 27, 2018 at 8:30 p.m., a major traffic collision occurred that resulted in two fatalities.

A motorcycle was being ridden westbound Foothill Boulevard when a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, traveling eastbound Foothill Boulevard, made a left turn to northbound Valmont Street. The motorcycle collided with the SUV, causing the motorcycle to lose control and hit a parked vehicle.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the male driver of the motorcycle to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries. A female passenger of the motorcycle died at the scene of the collision.

The deceased individual’s names are being withheld, pending next-of-kin notification.

The driver of the Tahoe fled the scene without stopping to identify himself. The Chevrolet Tahoe was taken into police custody near the scene of the collision, but the hit and run driver is actively being sought.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
