Young Man Suffered Fatal Stab Wounds After a Dispute with the Suspect NR18135rh

Olympic: The Los Angeles Police Department and West Bureau Homicide detectives are investigating a dispute that resulted in a Murder in Koreatown

On May 10, 2018, around 6:40 p.m., Olympic officers responded to a radio call of a stabbing in the 400 block of South Vermont Avenue. When officers arrived they found the victim of a stabbing, on the sidewalk. Additional officers arrived and found a second male, later identified as Vardan Tokmajyan, who had suffered lacerations to his hand and foot.

The male admitted that he worked at a local business and had a dispute with the victim. The suspect was armed with a knife and stabbed the victim during the altercation. The murder occurred inside of the business. After being stabbed the victim escaped down the street.

The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at scene.

The motive for this murder is still under investigation.

The victim has been identified as 23- year-old Jai Malik Carter, a male Black, a resident of Inglewood.

The suspect has been identified as 24- year-old Vardan Tokmajyan, a male Armenian, a resident of Glendale, was booked for Murder, 187 PC. His bail was set at two million dollars.

This case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration on Monday, May 14, 2018.
