Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department South Bureau Homicide Division detectives are involved in the investigation of the shooting death of Justin Holmes, a 21-year-old male Black, that occurred on Sunday, October 1, 2017, in the 7800 block of South Western Avenue.

On October 12, 2017, South Bureau Homicide detectives with the assistance of 77th Division Gang Enforcement Detail, and the Los Angeles Police Department Robbery Homicide Division, arrested and booked two juveniles, and one adult, Cameron Terrell, for the murder of Justin Holmes.

The case was filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office on Friday, October 13, 2017 for the two juveniles, and on Monday, October 16, 2017 for Mr. Terrell. The juveniles are currently going through the lengthy transfer hearing process in which it will be determined if they remain in juvenile court or get transferred to adult court.

Mr. Terrell was the alleged driver in the murder of Justin Holmes. Gang allegations were filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on all three defendants. Mr. Terrell was acquitted by a jury on July 23, 2018. The case remains open at this time.

While investigating the murder, evidence was discovered by investigators for additional felony crimes, and due to the dates of those incidents, they could not be charged concurrently with Mr. Terrell’s adult case, as Mr. Terrell was a juvenile at the time of those incidents.

On March 12, 2019, Mr. Cameron Terrell, 19 years-old, was placed under arrest at 6:00 p.m., and being held with No Bail until his court date. These investigations are open and ongoing, no further information will be released at this time.
