Fraudulent Recorded Document Suspect Arrested NR19172ti

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Commercial Crimes Division detectives announce the arrest of Ronald Eugene Griffin for  Fraudulent Recorded Document.

On March 18, 2019, around 12:20 p.m., officers received a radio call of a “trespass suspect” near the 1200 block of Benedict Canyon Drive. Upon arrival, officers were met by employees of the residence, who knew the true property owner of the residence. They reported that suspect Ronald Eugene Griffin was trying to gain entry by compromising the locks of the residence. Suspect Griffin claimed to be the new owner of the residence. The employees immediately notified the police of the suspects’ unauthorized access to the property.

Officers contacted detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department Commercial Crimes Division for assistance with identifying the real  property owner.

Detectives interviewed the property owner who did not know suspect Griffin and did not give anyone authorization to have the title of the residence changed. Griffin had changed the title of the residence without the victim’s knowledge and attempted to forcibly gain entry onto  the house.

Los Angeles Police Department presented the case to the District Attorney Office for review. On June 17, 2019, the District Attorney’s Office  filed (1) count of 115(a) PC, Fraudulent Recorded Document and (1) count of 484(a)/490.2 PC, Petty Theft, against suspect Griffin.

On June 20, 2019, Los Angeles Police Department, Commercial Crimes Division, Due Diligence Unit served the arrest warrant on Griffin, without incident.
