Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision NR19243ll

South Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver involved in a hit and run traffic collision that left a 65-year-old male dead.

On September 9, 2019 around 10:25 p.m., the victim was crossing northbound Century Blvd just west of Main Street. He was struck by a sedan possibly a Honda, traveling westbound Century Blvd. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, render aid to the injured pedestrian and fled the scene

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to his family.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should stop, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
