60-Year-Old Killed in Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision NR19269jl

South Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a hit and run collision that killed a 60-year-old female.

On October 4, 2019, at approximately 7:05 p.m., a Toyota Corolla traveling eastbound Century Blvd in South Los Angeles collided with the victim who was crossing the street southbound Century Blvd just west of Baring Cross St. After being hit, the victim laid motionless in the roadway and was struck a second time by a vehicle, possibly described as a white Chevy pickup truck. The victim was then struck a third time by a red KIA Soul. Both drivers of the Toyota Corolla and KIA Soul remained at scene. The driver of the Chevy pickup truck fled the scene and failed to render aid and identify himself.

The victim has been identified as Elvia Bercian, a 60-year-old female. She was pronounced dead at scene.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should stop, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $5,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
