Los Angeles: On May 31, 2020 at 3:00 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a possible Robbery at the 700 block of South Broadway Street.
As they drove southbound in their marked black and white patrol vehicle, on Hill Street approaching 5th Street, they encountered numerous protestors in the streets, causing them to slow to a stop. At that point, a group of individuals surrounded the police vehicle and threw objects into the vehicle shattering the rear window and damaging the driver’s side mirror.
Officers attempted to drive away, when people ran out in front of the cruiser. One of them was struck but got up and ran away before they could be identified.
The Los Angeles Police Department watched the video; however, we do not know who the pedestrians were and whether they had any injuries. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded, and they were unable to locate the involved parties.
An investigation of the vehicle revealed, it was indeed vandalized, and the rear window was shattered. At this point, this has been documented as an incident report only, because the damage to the city vehicle was caused by vandalism and no pedestrian was identified as the victim.
If you were involved in this incident, or have information about what happened, we would like to hear from you so we can complete this investigation.
