North Hollywood: Los Angeles Police Department Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a homicide suspect.
On August 6, 2020, at 2:20 a.m., North Hollywood Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of shots fired near the intersection of Vanowen Street and Vineland Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim down on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigation revealed, the victim and another male were walking east on Vanowen Street when a suspect approached them. The suspect shot the victim multiple times while the other male fled uninjured.
The suspect is described as a male, Hispanic in his 20’s wearing dark clothing. No further description.
The victim was transported by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The victim was identified as 26-year-old Jose Torres of North Hollywood.
