Information Wanted
Los Angeles- On August 12, 2020, at approximately 11:50 p.m.,
Newton Patrol officers responded to a radio call of a deceased
person in the east-west alley south of the 200 block of West 60th
Street. The investigation revealed the that decedent was run over
by a vehicle. The driver failed to render aid and identify him or
herself as required by law. There currently is no description of
the vehicle or driver.
The 50-year old decedent is identified as Joe Baines of Los
Angeles.

Police Department Central Traffic detectives are requesting the
public’s help in identifying a felony hit and run suspect.
On August 12th, 2020, around 11:50 p.m., Newton Area officers
responded to a radio call of a deceased person in the south alley
of the 200 block of West 60th Street. The decedent is described as
a male Hispanic, 35 to 40 years old.
The investigation revealed that the decedent was laying in the
alley when he was run over by a vehicle. The driver failed to
identify themselves or render aid as required by law. There is
currently no description of the vehicle or driver.
The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Joe Banes of Los
Angeles.
Driver’s are reminded that if they become involved in a collision,
they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so,
notify emergency services, and remain at scene to identify
themselves.
The City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and
created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund in April 2015. A
reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who
provide information leading to the offender’s identification,
apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil
compromise.
