Double Homicide in Sylmar NR20272jc

Sylmar: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide are asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects involved in the fatal shooting of two individuals.

On October 27, 2020, around 11:50 p.m., Mission Area patrol officers and Valley Bureau Homicide detectives responded to a shooting investigation at the intersection of Polk Street and Glenoaks Boulevard.

Preliminary investigation revealed there was a post-Dodger World Series celebration, consisting of 30-40 individuals in the intersection. Vehicles were performing vehicular stunts, commonly known as “doughnuts”, in the street while fireworks were being set off. Two males approached one of the vehicles and smashed out one of the windows using baseball bats. Those two males fled north on Glenoaks Boulevard, being followed by several members of the crowd and the vandalized vehicle. Gunshots rang out and two victims were struck by the gunfire. The victims were not occupants of the vehicle, and it is unknown if they were the individuals with the baseball bats.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported both victims to a local hospital where both died. Their identities are being withheld pending notification to next of kin.

There is no suspect description.
