Sylmar: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect, or suspects, responsible for the shooting death of 61-year-old Mario Noriega.
On Monday, December 7, 2020 around 6:00 p.m., Mission Area officers responded to a shooting radio call in the 14400 Block of Rex Street in Sylmar. Upon arrival they found Noriega down outside the doorway of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced Noriega dead at scene.
Witnesses heard shots from the area of Rex Street and Sproule Avenue and saw Noriega run to the front door of a residence, where he collapsed. Noriega did not live at the location where he was discovered. The motive for the shooting is unknown.
