Severe Injury Hit and Run Traffic Collision in Northeast Area NR21122wc

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a hit and run suspect.

On Friday, April 30, 2021, around 7:35 a.m., a 78-year-old Korean male pedestrian crossed the roadway on Lexington Avenue at Vermont Avenue in a marked crosswalk. A possible 2010-2015 dark colored Mazda CX-7 traveling westbound on Lexington Avenue failed to stop for a red light and collided with the pedestrian. After the collision, the driver of the Mazda fled the scene without rendering aid and identifying themselves as required by law.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
