Hit and Run Suspect Severely Injures Two Children NR21132jc

Venice: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a felony hit and run suspect.
On May 9, 2021, around 2:47 p.m., a vehicle described as a black or maroon Chevrolet Cruze was travelling southbound on Compton Avenue when it collided with two 8-year-old children that were crossing westbound across Compton Avenue south of 92nd Street. The Chevrolet Cruze continued southbound on Compton Avenue and fled at a high rate of speed after the collision failing to stop, render aid, or identify themselves as required by law.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the children to a local area hospital in critical condition.
Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
