June 22, 2021

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of a hit and run vehicle that killed a pedestrian.

On June 20, 2021, at around 10:40 p.m., the driver of a gray or silver 4-door sedan was traveling southbound on Grande Vista Avenue at Emery Street when the vehicle collided with a pedestrian who was attempting to cross Grande Vista Avenue. The driver of the sedan stopped briefly, but then fled the scene southbound on Grande Vista Avenue without identifying himself or attempting to render aid to the victim as required by law.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles City Fire Department arrived at the scene and began to render aid. Unfortunately, the pedestrian was unresponsive to the medical treatment and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

The video of the collision can be seen on Central Traffic Division’s YouTube account, "LAPD Central Traffic" and Twitter account "@LAPDCTD24."
