North Hills: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying a homicide suspect.
On August 9, 2021, around 11:45 p.m., Mission Area officers were patrolling in the area of Sepulveda Boulevard near Superior Street when they heard multiple gunshots. Officers observed a white Toyota Corolla stopped in the center of the street in the 9600 block of Columbus Avenue. A male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound was found in the driver’s seat.
The officers removed the victim from the vehicle and performed CPR on him.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at scene.
Operations Valley Bureau Homicide was contacted and assumed responsibility of the investigation. Detectives discovered several surveillance videos that depicted the suspect’s actions. The suspect approached the victim on foot and fired multiple rounds at the victim striking him. The suspect then ran away west on Superior Street. The suspect appeared to be a Hispanic male in his 20’s.
The victim appeared to be a 25-year-old Hispanic male and remains unidentified at this time.
The suspect is outstanding, and the motive is unknown. The investigation is ongoing, and no suspects have been identified.
