Los Angeles:
The Los Angeles Police Department and the UCLA Police Department are investigating a series of street robberies that have occurred in the vicinity of the UCLA Campus and the Westwood area since May of 2005.
There have been 11 similar incidents, including the most recent robbery occurring on August 13, 2005. The majority of the robberies have occurred between 10:00 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. between Friday’s and Sunday’s. The victims are usually alone and walking to their apartments or vehicles. Six of the victims have been women and nine of the robberies involved UCLA Students.
The suspect(s) used a semi-automatic handgun or bodily force during these robberies.
There are several different versions of the suspect’s description. The suspect was described as Black men, ranging from the heights of 5’ 8” to 6’, 170 to 200 lbs., ages 19 to 24 and in one incident, Hispanic men from 5’ 9”, 140 to 180 lbs., ages 18 to 24.

Members of the community should walk with a friend whenever possible and be aware of their surroundings.
