Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department detectives from 77th Street Police Station are asking the public’s help in identifying a gray Ford Mustang that was seen dragging a homeless man for over a mile from a 76 gas station.
The incident began at 8:50 PM, when the Mustang pulled into the 76 gas station. A 58-year-old Black homeless man was run over by the car’s driver and dragged out of the station, located at 5816 South Western Avenue.
Caught under the car, the man was dragged north on Western Avenue to 57th Street, east to Normandie Avenue, south to 58th Street, then east to 1119 West 58th Street, where witnesses rendered aid. The man was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition.
Witnesses described hearing a loud scraping noise, then seeing the Mustang swerving back and forth on 58th Street before the victim’s body became dislodged. Detectives believe the driver intentionally ran over the victim.
No driver description was available, but the Mustang was quite distinctive: later model, Ford Mustang, 2 door, with custom windows, possibly a hydraulic lowering system, and a lower spoiler body kit.
