Man wanted for Double Homicide Captured in Istanbul Turkey

Los Angeles: On October 21, 2005, murder suspect 49-year-old Fraydun Ahmad Kordian was detained by Turkish authorities in Istanbul, Turkey after he disembarked from a flight, which had originated in Mexico City, Mexico.  Kordian is suspected in the early-morning shooting of his 35-year-old estranged wife, and the wife’s mother and brother. 
On October 19, 2005, Kordian went to his mother-in-laws home, located in the 3700 block of Ruthelen Street, where his estranged wife was staying.  Kordian shot his wife, who is in stable condition at a local hospital.  He also shot his brother-in-law, 22-year-old Fernando Lomeli, who died at the scene, and his 58-year-old mother-in-law, Zenaida Barrigan, who died on October 22, 2005.
The Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, and the United States Department of Justice are petitioning the Turkish authorities to extradite Kordian back to Los Angeles.
