Los Angeles: On October 26, 2005, a fifteen-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department surrendered to members for the LAPD’s Internal Affairs Group after a felony warrant was issued for his arrest related to a worker’s compensation fraud investigation.
Craig Williams, 44, was booked on charges of insurance fraud and grand theft. He immediately posted $60,000 bail. Williams has been relieved from duty, pending the outcome of this case.
The Internal Affairs Group began an investigation in 2004 when it was discovered that Williams received remuneration after he submitted fraudulent documents relative to a Worker’s Compensation claim he previously initiated. A warrant was obtained after presenting the investigation to the Los Angeles District Attorneys Office, Justice System Integrity Division. Williams is scheduled to be arraigned in Division 30, on November 16, 2005, at 0830 A.M.
Williams was last assigned to Hollenbeck Police Station in Boyle Heights. He is a resident of Los Angeles.
