Shooting Suspect Arrested NR21247ti

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Community detectives are investigating a shooting that left a student shot outside Santee High School.

On September 2, 2021, around 1:47 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department Newton Area patrol officers responded to a shooting near the 2200 block of Maple Avenue, adjacent to Santee High School.

Responding officers discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was conscious and breathing was transported to a local area hospital for treatment by the Los Angeles Fire Department. The victim was identified as a student of Santee High.

The detective’s investigation included evidence from several surveillance cameras at the location along with social media postings of the incident. Detectives interviewed several witnesses during their investigation. This investigation led Detectives to identify the shooter and co-conspirators. Detectives informed Newton Gang Enforcement Detail (GED) officers of the subjects’ identity and directed their arrest.

On September 10, 2021, around 10:40 p.m., Newton GED officers observed and detained the subjects without incident. Newton Detectives responded to the scene and obtained a search warrant to a residence that had a nexus with one of the subjects.

The subjects were arrested for the September 2nd shooting and detained at Eastlake Juvenile Hall pending the District Attorney’s review.
