Los Angeles: A male pedestrian crossing a street in south Los Angeles was struck by two vehicles and later died at a local hospital.
On Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at about 7:00 p.m., the man, whose identity has not been determined, was pushing a shopping cart eastbound across Hoover Street at 47th Street, when he was hit by a gray Cadillac traveling southbound on Hoover. The driver of the car left the scene without providing assistance to the victim. A second vehicle, described only as a van, also traveling southbound on Hoover, then struck the victim as he lay in the roadway and dragged him approximately 50 feet. The driver of the van fled the scene as well.
Paramedics responding to the accident took the victim to California Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The man was listed as John Doe, pending valid identification. He was a male Black, with black hair, brown eyes, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150 pounds. He was wearing a blue jacket, black t-shirt and jeans.
