"Man Shot and Killed at Recreation Center"
Los Angeles: Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives are investigating a gang related shooting, which occurred in the parking lot of a recreation center.
On Saturday, March 12, 2005, at about 2:55 p.m., the victim, a 28-year-old Hispanic man, was in the driver’s seat of his 1999 Ford Explorer, which was parked in the Montecito Heights Recreation Center, located at 4545 Homer Street. Two suspects walked up to the victim and began talking to him. Moments later, one of the suspects shot the victim. The suspects ran away, southbound on Homer Street.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The suspects were described as Hispanics in their mid 20’s.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
